Humans of Dominion City: Jonathan

Jonathan is one of the longest serving members of our team. We first met him through a mutual friend in our backyard after a long day spent homebrewing years before going pro. He came on board at the brewery while we were still hand-filling growlers brewed lovingly on our original electric brewhouse. Jonathan's first role at the brewery was washing bottles and today he's our lead cellarman. Jonathan has been a big part of our growth and he's made us better.

"It's been a wild ride full of ups and downs being a part of a young business but it's really come together this past year and I just feel great having had a hand in that success."

A trained woodworker, Jonathan built our tasting bar furniture by hand from recovered Ottawa ash trees. We're constantly hearing from guests about how much they love these pieces.

When not at work, Jonathan can be found biking around town, reading in a field or playing guitar. He's constantly working on his own projects at his home workshop.  Jonathan loves books and lists Ursula K. LeGuin's 'The Dispossessed' and Noam Chomsky's 'Understanding Power' among two recent favourites.

Jonathan's best memory enjoying a beer was when he met his wife Amanda for their first date at Pour Boy on Somerset Street. "We got silly and fell in love," he says.
