“The beer for thinking citizens!”
Civic Pilsner is our nod to simplicity. Inspired by our favourite German pilsners, this hop accented lager is crisp, dry and refreshing.
Tasting NotesCrisp, dry and herbal.
History Of The Style
Pilsners were born from a cry for better beer. Brewing has had a home in the city of Pilsen in today's Czech Republic since the 13th Century, but by the mid-1800s beer drinkers were in open revolt over the inconsistent quality of their beer. The city opened a municipally-owned brewery to brew beer (known today as Pilsner Urquell) in the Bavarian style and pioneered a lager beer, fermented cool over long periods in caves. Their creation revolutionized beer by brewing with pale malts, which when combined with the city's extremely soft brewing water and Czech noble Saaz hops resulted in a bright, golden beer that proved a sensation.
Traditionally pilsners should be bright, crisp and hop flavourful. We set out to brew one in the best traditions of the style. We hope you like it.
