Brewed in collaboration with Town Brewing from Whitby in celebration of Slake’s 4th anniversary.
We set out to brew a malt-forward lager using local Vienna malt from Barn Owl. This batch of Vienna is lighter in colour than typical, but brings a lot of malt character to the table. We used a decoction mash in order to get the most character out of the malt.
The result is a lager with a darker golden hue than our typical lagers, and a bold malt presence. Expect a good amount of sweetness balanced by moderate bitterness. It’s flavourful, yet easy-drinking. We think it’s the perfect fall lager!
Rock Cats is named after some stray cats which showed up at the brewery's doorstep one day. First we saw one cat. Then another cat. Finally, we noticed the mother had nested in the rocks near the brewery patio and had given birth to kittens!
