KIN Vineyards - 2019 Carp Ridge Pinot Noir
Our Carp Ridge Pinot Noir grapes were harvested with rigorous selection and sorting, over three days; October 9,15 and 16. After gentle crushing and destemming to stainless steel tanks, the must was indigenously fermented over a total maceration time of 20 days, before gentle basket pressing, settling and racking to French oak, Burgundy format cooperage for nine months elevage. Clonal profile is 39% 115, 23% 667, 14% 777 and 24% a mix of 777, 828 and 82. Oak profile is 25% New, 37% Neutral, 38% Stainless Steel. Bottling followed barrel blending, zero fining and minimal filtration.
The wine is medium ruby in colour. The nose is complex and layered, both fruity and earthy with notes of red cherry, beetroot, black tea and autumn leaves. The palate offers soft tannins and bright acidity to support the fruit and cinnamon notes, with a medium long finish.
