Pearl Morissette - 2021 Roselana
A rosé for all seasons, this is a darkly-coloured wine that is vinous at heart, yet light-footed on the palate. It opens with an expansive and inviting bouquet, welcoming one with the profusion of its dewy aromatics. Undulating textures ripple through the palate washing it in the tender vibrancy of the first fruits of the season. Revivifying like an early morning and soothing like a kind caress, it is a hard-to-resist bottle on all counts.
Vinification & Élevage:
2021 Cuvée Roselana is a blend of 80% Pinot Noir (Redfoot vineyard), 15% Gamay (19th str. vineyard), 5% Syrah (Redfoot vineyard).
The fruit was harvested respectively on October 6th (PN), October 7th (GM) and October 20th (SYR). The Pinot Noir and the Gamay were processed through the direct press rosé method, each with 3 days (72hrs) on skins. The Syrah was processed as red wine through 100% whole-cluster fermentation. The wines were fermented separately in 100% concrete tanks. The élevage proceeded in the concrete vessels for the Pinot Noir and the Gamay; and in old Alsatian foudre for the Syrah - without any racking for a total of 7 months. The wines were then blended and aged for an additional 2 months in stainless steel tanks.
