“Assertively hoppy.”

Two Flags is an assertively hoppy, deliberately well-balanced and highly drinkable India Pale Ale. This beer pours a bright copper with strong citrus and floral aroma. Flavours include burnt sugar, grapefruit and lingering resinous hop bitterness. Brewed with 100% locally-grown Cascade hops.

Tasting Notes

History Of The Style

Originally brewed for British servicemen in India during the Raj, India Pale Ale was a solution to a problem. Traditional ales would spoil on the long journey, so brewers introduced a new style with more hops than English beer drinkers were accustomed. In addition to acting as a natural preservative, the result was a deliciously refreshing beer, perfect for the warm Indian climate. Late 20th century craft brewers rediscovered the style, brewing IPAs with powerful American hop varieties that created exciting new flavours and aromas.

Our inspiration for this beer was to brew an IPA that relied exclusively on locally grown hops. Two Flags is always brewed with Cascade hops grown from independent, family-owned farms in Ontario and Western Quebec. It's the only permanently-available IPA in Ontario to do so.
