Wood and poetry.

Wood and poetry.

Last Fall we launched the Loyalist League Barrel Subscription. The idea was simple; we invited fans of funk and wood-aged beer to sign up in order to be the first to receive bottles from our first six barrel-aged releases.

Wilderness Gothic is the second release in this series. The result of a single barrel, this Saison was fermented in oak with Gamay juice harvested by our friends at Hinterland Winery last Fall on their Prince Edward County vineyard.

While the general public is normally offered a shot at any bottles left unclaimed by our subscribers, this release is fewer than 250 bottles and available exclusively to subscribers. (A small number of subscriptions remain should you wish to claim one.)

Named for one of our favourite Al Purdy poems, (Purdy, if you don't know, hails from Ameliasburgh, ON in Prince Edward County and was Canada's unofficial poet laureate.) This beer is a dry, richly complex farmhouse ale. It pours a light straw and features subtle acidity and notes of juicy red fruit.

Get it if you can!
