Tasting notes : Pecan pie, grape pastries
This coffee is produced by Rene Munoz, brother of Gregorio Munoz whom you have known for 6 years now.
Rene is our link to Gregorio, as he's the only one active on social media. We can regularly exchange information with him about the current harvests, the weather conditions, and any new developments or improvements on their family farm.
A word from Gregorio Munoz (brother):
Eighty years ago, my great-grandfather planted his first coffee tree. Since then, it's been our livelihood. It's the only plantation in the region that can provide us with enough work to support ourselves.
Our sword of Damocles is mining, against which we must constantly fight with the help of Mother Nature to defend our lands and prevent the contamination of our environment.
Gregorio and Rene live in Las Mesas, one of the villages furthest from the center of Mataquescuintla. Perched at 1900 meters above sea level, they cultivate a small plot of 3 hectares alongside their brother-in-law, Irineo Ramirez.
